Welcome to the official page of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) in partnership with UNESCO - Africa Zone.
Our mission is to promote and protect the cultural heritage of museums across the African continent, while building the capacity of professionals in the sector. We operate in several key countries such as Senegal, Cameroon, Gabon, Tanzania, and Kenya, with the aim of developing effective regional cooperation and supporting local cultural initiatives.
ICOM, in collaboration with UNESCO, works to:
Preserve and promote African cultural and historical heritage through museums.
Promote exchanges and training between museum professionals and international experts.
Support the sustainable development of museums in Africa by integrating global best practices in collection and exhibition management.
Encourage cultural education by raising awareness among local and international communities about the importance of museums and heritage preservation.
Our partnership with UNESCO creates an environment conducive to collaboration, innovation, and the protection of Africa's rich cultural heritage. Together, we believe in the power of museums as places of education, exchange, and inspiration, where the past meets the future.
ICOM Africa, in partnership with UNESCO, is proud to support cultural diversity and the development of innovative and inclusive museums across the African continent.
